Airlines With the Best Fashion Sense

Airhostess chasing airplane

The Cabin Crew. Even when you are most disheveled after a red-eye flight, you can count on the cabin crew to look immaculate. No matter how long and turbulent the flight, the traveler can take comfort in a smiling face, in a perfectly pressed suit, ready to deliver a fresh damp cloth or lunch tray. And perhaps, with all the headlines the airlines are making lately, it is well advised that the cabin crew be ready for an unexpected photo or a You-Tube appearance. If the landing strip is the new runway, it is important that the airlines stack up. Here are some of the airlines with the best fashion sense.

Emirates Airlines
Emirates is one example of an airline that knows the importance of a good looking crew. According to flight attendant Maria Pederson, one of the ethnically diverse crew members, “People are really impressed by the way we look. I think it makes us stand out, look professional and well put together.” Flight prep time for this group usually takes about an hour, and little wonder, as there are guidelines for the exact hat position (two fingers width above the eyebrows), the folding and tucking of the scarf, the signature red lipstick, and the grooming (hair cannot touch the shoulders). In addition, flight attendants are restricted from wearing uniforms while off duty, a big Emirates no-no.

Singapore Airlines
The signature “Singapore Girl” uniform has barely been altered in the over 40 years of its existence. After all, what reason would there be for changing something so stylish, iconic, and instantly recognizable? The original, designed by French couture designer Pierre Balmain in 1968, is a take on the “Sarong Kebaya,” featuring the timeless colors and prints of traditional Singapore women’s wear, and a feast of pattern and colors in the friendly skies/

Air Canada Rouge
For a discount airline, these guys have cool uniforms! Check out their tight burgundy tees and gray belted slacks with the knotted print neck scarves. Sort of like “Grease” meets hipster. They also get to wear John Fluevog on their feet. Talk about low budget meets high fashion.

Thai Airways
Always stylish, always elegant, Thai Airlines uniforms give the passenger a taste of Thailand as soon as they board. While flight attendants wear the corporate purple outfits outside the plane, they change into the traditional Thai dress for the flight portion. Pardon us while we change into something a bit more comfortable? While beautiful and colorful in both versions, the passengers are in for an extra treat that may be well worth the price of the flight.

Aeroflot
Although Russia is not always synonymous with fashion, the crisp red caps and angled neckties of the Aeroflot stewardesses may turn that around. Earning a top rating as the world’s most stylish airline from the Skyscanner flight booking website, the Aeroflot cabin crew may be the start of a fashion revolution.

Qantas
Even Miranda Kerr couldn’t resist a chance to model the Quantas collection on the runway. The new design is a study in traditional Quantas ruby red, fuschia, and French navy created by Australian designer Martin Grant. But the absolute must have in this collection? Check out the new Quantas trench coat! You’ll be signing up for the job tomorrow!

Grab These Summer Nail Polish Colors Before They’re Gone

It’s summer and it’s that ‘fry an egg on the sidewalk” type of weather. Your friends are sending you selfies and texts from their exotic vacation spots while you lie on the couch in front of the air conditioner trying to keep your hair from frizzing. What’s a girl to do? Her nails!

It may be the dog days of summer, but that’s no excuse for letting your nails go! Put on the air conditioner and get out that polish! And do it soon, because the colors of summer may not be around for too long. Here are some of the best summer colors you simply have to have!

Candy Crush
With all the fireworks of summer, its always a great idea to glitter bomb your nails. Get those nails looking just as hot as the weather with some multi-color glitter nail polish. Finish the look with some eye catching rings on every finger top and bottom.

Cake Pop
Nails that look like ten cake pops! What could be better? This pink pastel color will look great against your skin and while making a super feminine statement that can complement your inner lady or provide a contrast to your tomboy side.

Floss Gloss
Summer nail polish doesn’t have to be bright. Try a neutral palm tree color. It will work like color correcting concealer to tone down summer weathered hands, and look great while doing it.

Electric Orange
Anything starting with the word electric has to be great for summer. Besides, since your not doing tans anymore, you need something to give you color. Orange is a great cheery summer color and will provide a great contrast to your more expected pinks and reds.

Coral
Coral is always a great classy choice for all of your cosmetics and summer fashion. Its really on trend this 2017 and is guaranteed to fully complement your entire summer wardrobe. The pinky peach color is a great way to keep things lively, and you can always add a glitter topcoat for a little extra kick.

Red
There will always be a place for classic red in every nail polish collection. No matter the season, red will always make a strong, sexy feminine statement. You can never go wrong with red.

Subtle Grey
Every once in a while, it is a good idea to take it down a notch. With all the summer colors heating things up, you may want to cool off with a nice subtle grey. Look for the color in matte finish to keep it fun and bright.

Sweet Almond
They say variety is the spice of life, and if you’re always looking to change things up, this may be the color for you. Sweet almond is somewhere between gray and lilac, but there is nothing boring or sleepy about this light purple. Definitely a color for the ages.

Travel Outfits For New Moms

You love everything about being a new mom, but you have to admit, since the baby arrived, it’s given a new meaning to the word luggage. In fact, you’re pretty sure that your diaper bag alone would probably qualify as “over-sized” by most airline standards, and that’s the one without the built-in changing station. And now you have to travel. Your relatives are dying to meet your newest addition and your dying show off your latest accomplishment. But the last thing you want is more to pack, and comfort is a top priority. Here are some simple travel outfits to keep things easy and fashionable.

Post Pregnancy Clothes
You don’t want to spend a ton of money on clothing you won’t wear for very long, but you need comfy and cute items to accommodate your figure and make nursing easy.

Leggings
Two of the best outfits for new moms are leggings with a loose, long top, and elastic waist jeans with a peplum shirt. Since your main concern right now is probably your middle, look for a top that will cover the hips with a thin fabric to avoid adding bulk. Horizontal stripes will add width, and should be avoided, while a belted shirt will keep large breasts from looking bigger.

Flared Jeans
Flared jeans can help to balance out hips and make them look less noticeable. Your tops can be a little shorter than the ones you would pair with leggings, but you will still want to find ones that cover the hips a bit without totally eliminating your waistline. Flared jeans with a flowing shirt can make you look bigger in general. Add a belt to cinch the waist. Elastic belts tend to provide the most comfort.

Maxi and Midi Dresses
Maxi and midi dresses are really on trend right now and a great easy option for the new Mommy. They’re easy to adjust and you don’t have to worry about length issues when you’re reaching up or bending over.

Button-Down Shirts
A button down shirt tied around the waist is a blessing in disguise for new moms. It helps camouflage problem areas, while doubling as an accessory. It can also make for a quick cover up when you’re feeling shy, or when the air conditioning is a little high.

Kimono
If you’re traveling in the heat, you may feel a bit exposed in loose shorts and a tank top. Kimonos or drapey vests are fashionable ways of getting some extra coverage on those scorching hot days.

Sundress
A sundress is a light to pack and easy to throw on. Bring that kimono along for some extra style and a last-minute cover-up. Look for interesting details and eye-catching colors to make the focal points of more revealing clothing.

Accessories
If you’re trying to keep your packing list low, it may be necessary to include a few accessories to keep your pieces looking fresh A watch is a functional accessory that will spare you the trouble of digging through your purse for a cell phone while dealing with your other accessory.

Cross body bags are smart alternatives to handheld purses, and will leave your hands free to tend to the little ones. Their style will also prevent you from setting them down unconsciously and forgetting to pick them up.

Stud earrings can add flash without becoming a plaything for small hands and hats are always great for blocking the sun and covering frizzy locks.

If you’re a new mom with plans to travel, great excitement is in store. Make sure to keep comfy and prepared. Let us know how you gear up for travel.

Give These Summer Skincare Tips A Try

The day of reckoning has come. The days are getting longer and the shorts are getting shorter. It’s time to unveil all those parts of the body that you’ve been referring to as the “nether regions” this past winter, and that means your skin has to be up to the task. How are you going to get your pasty legs “Daisy Duke” ready in time to hit the beach? No problem! Just dust off that razor, toss out the old sunscreen, and get ready to glow crazy.

Exfoliate
Your body is a skin cell shedding machine. You need to get rid of all those dead cells before they end up collecting on your skin, making it look dull and dry. Lotions is not enough. You need to grab a good body scrub and high tail it to the shower, now! Rub the exfoliator over your body in circular movements and rinse. Do this 2-3 times a week to keep skin soft and smooth.

Shave the Right Way
If you haven’t been exactly diligent about your shaving practices last winter, its time to pay the piper. Find a good razor that won’t cause razor burn and invest in a good women’s shaving lotion with moisturizers. If you find yourself without lotion, hair conditioners will do in a pinch.

Use A Summer Scented Lotion
You don’t want to just look like summer, you want to smell like it too. Get the full effect with a light fast absorbing summery gel or spray. Coconut and mango scents absolutely bespeak of summer. Make sure to apply right after drying off from the shower to seal in moisture.

Safe Summer Glow
It may seem hard to believe that less than 40 years ago, people spent their summers basking in the sun hoping to catch some color. Nowadays, we have to seek our glow from containers. Sunless tanners are a great option for giving your skin a glow this summer. You can also alternate your usual facial moisturizer with a tinted one to build gradual color, giving the effect of an effortlessly maintained tan all summer long.

Feet
Time to switch out those winter boots for your slinky sandals? An at home pedicure may be on the agenda. Use a foot scrub and file to scrub off dry, dead skin a few times a week. Products with ADA acids will add some exfoliating action to your pedi, making your feet sandal ready.

Nail Polish
While you’re working on those feet, you may want to polish those toenails. You can go for something bolder on the toes than the fingernails, and its bound to stay on for a lot longer because we don’t clean our houses with our feet. Just apply a base coat, two coats of color, and a clear top coat for protection. Go barefoot for a few hours to let polish set.

New Sunscreen
The importance of a good sunscreen cannot be overstated in the summer months. Using last year’s unused sunscreen is not going to cut it. Be safe and buy a new bottle and use it. You should apply a shot glass sized amount of sunscreen to your body and a full teaspoon for just the face and neck area. Reapply every 1 to 2 hours. Be sure to look for something with broad spectrum protection and an SPF of at least 30.

Fashion Choices That Hide Problem Areas

So you’ve got your dad’s eyes, grandma’s freckles, Aunt Suzie’s infectious laugh, and your mom’s thighs. And though you may never want to trade in your mom, you may sometimes want to trade in your thighs. But so what? Perfection is overrated and that’s what baggy clothes were made for. So things being as they are, let’s talk about the best fashion choices for hiding those problem areas.

Woman with white top

Create Curves On Top
You can draw attention away from your curves by wearing something that adds visual dimension to your shoulder and bust area. It will play up the top of your body while drawing attention away from your hips and thighs. Look for:

  • Horizontal necklines, like boat necks or straight necks. Wrap necklines may slim your torso, but focus attention on your bust.
  • Light colors, like light pink or white.
  • Bright colors, like electric blues, reds, and oranges.Eye-catching details like polka dots, stripes, sequins, or large collars.
  • Kimono or bell sleeves.
  • A good push up bra or bust enhancing neckline, like a bustier.
  • Scarves. Need we say more?

Downplay Curves
If you want to minimize hips, butt, and thighs, try the following:

  • Dark colors, especially dark wash jeans or dress pants.
  • Vertical details like stitches, pleats, and decorative zippers.
  • Tops that end just below the hip bone. (Avoid lengths across the across your thighs and hip length tops.)
  • Thigh and hip hugging shapewear.
  • Heels.

shift dress

Minimize Middle
If weight gain around the midsection is problematic, you probably want to choose something that fits loosely around the middle and more tightly elsewhere. Your best choices include:

  • Slim cut pants, to show off slim legs.
  • Shift dresses: These will look very flattering, especially with high heels.
  • Tunics, which glide over the middle, emphasizing other body parts.
  • Empire waist tops.

You want to avoid wearing anything that draws too much attention to the middle, such as belts, waist cinching tops, and high-rise pants.

Pencil skirt

Hourglass
If you’ve got that hourglass body, proportions are no problem, but some clothes may make your curves look more like angles. You need to find clothes that move with your body naturally. Stay away from shapeless styles, like cardigans, tunics, and baby doll dresses. To make the most of your curves, look for:

  • Pencil skirts, great for cinching the waist and skimming the hips.
  • V-Neck shirts: A tight fitting top will flatter without exaggerating.
  • High waisted pants draw attention to a slim waist.
  • Wrap dress: The diagonal cut will hit all the right places.

Bottom Slimming Pants
To create a lean line on your lower body, the best pants are flare legs, straight and skinny, boot cuts, and pants with simple waistbands.

Skirts and Dresses with Width and Volume
It may seem counterintuitive, but skirts that are wider at the bottom usually balance out wider hips. Steer away from too-full skirts in favor of something with an a-line shape. Flared skirts and full circle skirts will also flatter, as will maxi and gypsy skirts.

statement necklace

Statement Jewelry
Eye-catching earrings and necklaces draw attention upward. Examples include gemstones, metal discs, and chandelier and feather earrings.

Short Jackets
Jackets that hit a few inches above the hipline will help to make your legs look thinner and longer. Hip length jackets can also work, as long as you wear a suitable bottom, such as a dark colored A-line skirt or pair of dress pants. Short leather jackets are a good choice, as are cropped denims.

Never underestimate the power of good underwear! It can hide a multitude of sins!

The Best Spring Colors For Your Skin Tone

Colors can be very attractive, but as much as you like them in the makeup palette, they may not be the most flattering colors for you. So, in the spirit of saving you some heartache, and sparing you from unnecessary purchases, here’s the skinny on finding the right spring color for your skin tone.

Here’s The Deal
Your skin has undertones. They may not be very apparent, but they come out when you hold another color up to it. That’s why certain colors can make you look gorgeous and others can make you look like you’ve just eaten something disagreeable. To tell which colors best complement your skin tone, you need to first establish what your skin tone is. Take off your makeup and try a drape test to figure it out.

Cool skin tone

Cool
Are you on of the cool kids? If your hair is blonde, ash brown, dark brown, or black, and your skin has pink undertones, you are! Still not sure? Hold up some springy royal blues and bright pinks and basic blacks and whites to your face. Look good? You’re cool!

Light cool
If your hair has a light ashy tone, and your skin is pale with pink undertones, you may be cool light, or light cool. To make sure, hold up some light blues, pinks, and lavenders. If they flatter, you’re light cool.

Warm
If you’ve gone for strawberry blond tints and your skin tans well, it’s all about orange. If orange makes you look radiant, you’re getting warm.

Warm skin

Light Warm
If you’ve got a reddish tint but your skin is fair, or you have darker skin with a peachy glow, then oranges, greens and browns may be overwhelming. Try beachy spring corals, beiges and peaches instead. If they make your eyes pop, you’re a light warm.

Your Best Spring Colors
So now that you know what skin tone you have, here are a few colors you may want to include in your springtime wardrobe.

Orchid
Cool tones, rejoice. Your color for the spring is a radiant orchid. Whether it be maxi dress, flirty sandals or blouses, be sure to include this standout jewel tone in your spring collection.

Lavender

Soft Lavender
Light cool tones will want to find themselves draped in soft lavender this spring. Don a lavender sun dress for some fairy tale spring inspiration and make this pastel your signature color this season.

Cayenne Pink
Warm tones will find the yellow and orange undertones in coral pink great complements to your golden skin tones. A standout color on the spring fashion runways, cayenne pink is going to be huge this year, and it’s going to look terrific on you.

Woman in yellow dress

Lemon Yellow
When life hands you “lemon,” wear it! Nothing says spring quite like a warm, buttery yellow and it’s just the thing for light and warm tones this year. Light warms will do best with lighter desaturated yellow, while true warms can go for the bold canary colors. Get your yellow on in sunnies, skirts/ and platform heels for some fun in the sun this spring.

So which skin tone are you? Whether you’re cooling off or warming up for the spring, we want to hear all about you’re fashion adventures. Please keep us posted.
