You may have been doing your makeup for years but there’s always room for a refresher. Also, a lot of us have been doing our makeup for years in the same way – exactly the same way! These days makeup has not only gotten more advanced but more flattering as well. Luckily for you, Vine Vera has come up with a step-by-step guide that helps you understand exactly what to do, what to use and when to do it.
Moisturize your skin
The first and foremost step is to apply a gentle moisturizer that also offers you with SPF 30 sun protection. Applying a moisturizer as a first step helps the concealer to function properly on your skin without leaving any blotches.
Use concealers wherever required
Once you’re done with the moisturizer, use a concealer only on the parts that need it. You should always choose a concealer whose shade matches your skin tone. Choosing something lighter does not work, if you have heard that tip, ignore it! The best way to apply a concealer is to apply tiny stripes on your face using a concealer brush and then use your ring finger to gently pat (do not rub or move your fingers side to side) to blend it onto your skin.
Try a foundation stick
Foundation sticks help you to get perfect skin in a quick and efficient manner. The best way to use these sticks is to think of them as markers and use them to draw lines along your cheekbones, above your brows and along the sides of your nose. Once you do that, blend the foundation into your skin with your fingers. If you’re looking for a tanned look, use another stick that is about two shades darker and create lines on the same places where you used the first one before blending. But don’t forget to blend all the way down to your neck. If you’re looking for a lighter coverage, apply some moisturizer on your hands before blending. This helps to give you a dewy finish.
Use concealers to hide zits and marks
If irritating things like zits or dark spots still poke through your foundation, use an extra layer of concealer to hide them. The way to use the concealer is the same as the foundation stick. If acne is an issue try a concealer which contains acne fighting ingredients like salicylic acid for a double punch: heal & cover.
Get that perfect blush
Why bother with sculpting or shading your cheekbones, when you can use a blush cream to give you that perfect blush. All you need to do is apply the cream to your cheeks and blend the color all the way to your temples using your fingers. If you go overboard with the blush, you can easily diffuse the look by using some more foundation instead of starting the process all over again.
Use a shimmery cream shadow from your lash lines all the way to your brow bones using your pointer finger. If you have fair looking skin, go for a silver-white shade. If you have a medium or a dark skin tone, go for a champagne shade instead. Use a primer over your eyelids before hand, if you suffer from oily lids.
Give some depth and character to your eyes
Use gold and bronze cream shadow to give your eyes some depth and character. Remember, the secret is to ensure that it looks effortless. The best way to do this is to use your fingers and smudge the cream shadow into the creases of your eyes, while ensuring that you completely avoid the brow bones.
Buff your lips every once in a while to get rid of that chapped and dried out look. All you need to do is massage some toothpaste onto your lips, brush your lips gently using a toothbrush and wipe it off with a damp washcloth. Don’t forget to apply some lip balm as well. Now use your favorite color on lips (make sure its bright and attractive and it also suits the color of your skin). Running a piece of ice over your lips for a minute before applying lip color helps the color to last all day and also gives you luscious looking lips.
Oh, that’s it. That’s all there is to an easy and beautiful beauty routine.
