Anti-Aging Mistakes Made by Men

Most men take care of their skin by using cleansers, moisturizers and sunscreen. They seem to be on the right path right? Wrong! What most men don’t realize is that despite doing the right things, they are using a faulty way – something which leaves men’s skin care routine in a disarray. So if you’re one of those men trying to fight off the onset of the appearance of aging and wrinkles, you need to read on! Most would offer you tips on what you should be doing to boost your anti-aging efforts. However, there are a few things that you shouldn’t be doing also. This post concentrates on the most common anti-aging mistakes made by men. Avoid repeating these mistakes and you should be all set to boast of younger and healthier looking skin in no time at all.

Not Moisturizing Properly
One of the most common mistakes made by most men is that they moisturize their skin a few times every week. This is no where close to being OK, this doesn’t provide enough moisture for skin and can lead to dry skin. You need to be moisturizing your skin once every day (twice during the winter months). Moisturizing your skin helps you to keep it hydrated and maintain its elasticity. Always remember, the more hydrated and elastic your skin looks, the younger you appear.

It might be ok for your sleep patterns to reduce as you get older, but the duration is never an issue. The main problem is in the sleep pattern. If you find it difficult to get sleep, you need to check your diet to figure out if you’re having something that prevents you from getting sleep, something like caffeine. Your sleep is a critical component of ensuring your young looks and the lack of sleep might cause an inflammatory effect in your body, thereby quickening the aging process. Make sure that you maintain your nighttime routines and your skin should begin to show its effects in no time.

Too Much Stress
Stress and anxiety have become a common problem in all our lives – overworked jobs, financial worries, too many burdens, improper lifestyles – all these things play a great role in ensuring that most people lead an extremely stressful life. However, a continued state of stress and anxiety can make you look older and lead to a number of serious health issues as well.

Smoking is something that is more common in men than in women. Smoking might help you in shedding some of that weight, but it does more than destroying your lungs. Smoking can make your skin become skinnier, paler and grayer in its appearance. It also causes the capillaries to become smaller, thereby bringing about an onslaught of wrinkles.

Ignoring SPF Needs
SPF 15 isn’t going to do the trick. Neither is ignoring sunscreens during the winter months or cloudy days . Come rain, come shine, you must always apply a broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen on a daily basis. Remember, the lower temperatures or the cloudy skies won’t stop the UV rays from hurting your skin.

Eating junk food such as burgers, hot dogs and pizzas on a regular basis can also cause your skin to age. In fact, having a balanced diet is one of the biggest secrets behind healthy looking skin. Healthy food items such as green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, peas, oranges, etc. contain a range of vitamins and antioxidants that can do wonders for your skin.

  1. I don’t these are skincare mistakes made solely by men, but skincare mistakes in general – a good common sense post though
