Spring officially began March 20 of this year. In my brain it began so much before that though. Spring means it’s almost summer – my favorite season! Spring also means an exciting time to try new trends and change up our lifestyle after hiding away during winter. There always a lot of fun new trends for spring and this year is no different. Vine Vera brings you some exciting insight into what’s trending for this spring in the beauty, fashion and travel categories. Some of the top beauty and cosmetic trends for spring are soft natural looking skin and eyes, bright lips and strong eye looks. The biggest trend for spring beauty, which I feel is a great for every spring, is the natural glowing skin look. Put away your heavy foundation and opt for a tinted moisturizer. Not only will you be of-the-moment but your skin will thank you!
Many designers sent models down their runways at fashion week with these looks. One of my favorites was a gorgeous look sent down the J Mendel runway. A great way to enhance this look is with an illuminator. Nars and Stila have some great liquid options. Pair this look with a white eye. I suggest a pearlescent white liner on the inner corners of eyes. If you are bold combine white liner with white shadow, you will look positively angelic. Stand out eye make-up trends I am excited about are blue shadow and cat eyes. Don’t worry, this isn’t the powder blue style of the eighties. What I am talking about is heavily pigmented, bold, cobalt blue. Amazing! If you haven’t already, now is the time to go for a cat eye. Use black for a more basic look or if you are extra daring combine these two trends and do a bright blue cat eye! Orange lipstick in the right tone is perfection for spring and summer. I am excited to upgrade from my stand by coral to a vivid orange hue.
There are fashion trends galore to keep you occupied well past spring. We’ve been seeing crop tops everywhere for a bit now and they are NOT going anywhere, for now at least.I’m thrilled to see one of my favorite silhouettes stepping into the spotlight – wide leg trousers. High waist wide leg trousers gives the illusion of legs that last forever and a small waist, super flattering. Along those lines, full skirts are coming back from the 50s also.
There are also a lot of embellishments happening for spring: lots of prints, paneling and beading. I feel like I am in heaven. I love anything detailed so all these trends are going to be filling up my closet. I am most excited about crazy psychedelic prints, cut out panels and beading. I am also delighted with all these fancy embellished sweat shirts. I am usually the girl that’s the super dressed up girl, now even my sweats can be dressed up.
In the travel department spring break is coming up, yay! If you are looking to be very adventurous this year you can take a trip into outer space. For a cool $250,000 Virgin Galactic will train you to become an astronaut and take you on a trip in the world’s first commercial spaceship. If you are just looking for some great flight options looks like airlines have finally heard flier requests to upgrade cabins. Carriers like are installing upgrades on many of their planes. JetBlue seems to be outshining all the rest with a new premium cabin grade called Mint. Mint offers the longest lay flat seats in the industry, sliding doors for privacy, massaging seat cushions, restaurant curated tapas menu, espresso machines, and personal amenity kits just to name a few!
Airlines are also looking to streamline the checking process with shorter check in lines being projected. Some companies are also testing systems for electronic luggage tags allowing fliers to check their own bags. Once you arrive to your destination check out an interesting new dining trend – underground supper clubs. New websites which connect hungry people with culinary hosts are popping up. Try EatWith, with hosts in over 30 countries inviting you into their homes to try many different types of foods you are sure to find an option you will enjoy. The travel industry is predicting the popularity of destinations inspired by the entertainment industry. They are marketing to devotees of shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and movies like The Hobbit, allowing fans to follow in the footsteps of their favorite characters. Another type of destination projected to be popular this year are locations which have previously been difficult to travel too. With the Obama administrations loosening of travel restrictions to Cuba in 2011, has come a rising tide of tourists flowing to the island. The city of Trindad will be especially popular since it is celebrating its 500th anniversary this year.
Which of these trends will you be trying out this spring? Do you have a spring tip for us? We’d love to hear from you. Please leave us a comment below with your opinion.
