Scar Tissue Treatment - Vine Vera Skin Care

Whether it is from falling off a bike as a kid or undergoing surgery, everybody has scars. Some people do not like the look of their scars on their skin and want to minimize them. Though most scars fade over time, knowing how to reduce the appearance of scar tissue can help to make this process go faster. Vine Vera Skin Care recommends adhering to the following tips in order to minimize scarring and reduce scar tissue.

The most fundamental aspect of reducing the appearance of scars is good wound care. Allowing an injury to become infected or re-injuring it over and over because you are not careful will lead to scarring. Make sure that you are taking extra care of your injury in order to give your skin a chance to heal properly and not form scar tissue.

Clean the wound immediately. Gently flush out the injury with water. Remove and pebbles, splinters, or grit that could cause infection by using a sterilized tweezers. When the wound is void of debris, wash around it with warm water and a gentle soap. Avoid getting soap into the wound as this can actually delay healing.

Cover the wound so that it remains clean. This not only keeps out dirt and helps prevent you from re-injuring the area, but it also keeps bacteria away. At the same time, this will also help minimize the chance of an infection. The wound will stay moist for a few days, and this actually helps speed healing. Keeping the wound moist helps reduce the appearance of scar tissue.

Never pick at scabs. Doing so reopens the injury and causes your skin to go through the healing process again. Picking at scabs can introduce bacteria from the air and your hands into the wound and can cause it to get infected. In addition, picking at scabs causes larger scars to form.

It is essential to wear sunscreen if you want to minimize the appearance of a scar. Damage from the sun prevents your skin cells from properly healing wounds and leads to the formation of larger scars. Avoid this by always wearing a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. This will block UVA and UVB rays from damaging your skin and causing the formation of scar tissue.
